S Jegatratshagan union minister of state for information and broadcasting asked Doordarshan here to innovate itself to produce quality serials during prime time.  After reviewing the functioning of the public broadcaster in its premises today with officials, the minister said that the serials should be broadcast daily so as to cater to quality entertainment needs of the public.

Highlighting the need to generate revenue by way of carrying popular programmes, the minister said such new programmes and initiatives of Doordarshan Kendra Chennai should be publicized through print media as well so that public would be kept informed of them.

Requesting to utilize the resources optimally and to their full potential, he promised that action would be taken to upgrade and modernize the existing infrastructure to further improve the quality of programmes.
