Special police team conducted raids at several places and seized and 5,000 fake DVDs of newly released Tamil films and pornographic movies. According to the COPs direction the police conducted raids in New Washermenpet, Tondiarpet, Burma Bazaar, Rattan Bazaar, China Bazaar and Anna Salai. In Washermenpet, P Balasundaram (20) and his brother P Jaishankar were arrested for allegedly manufacturing DVDs of new Tamil films at their house in Annai Satya Nagar. Similarly, Tagorekani (24) of Netaji Nagar, C Mohan (48) of China Bazaar, G Ganesan (24) of Burma Bazaar, Umarasin of Rattan Bazaar and Satyamurthi of Anna Salai were arrested and a total of 5,100 fake DVDs, including those of newly released Tamil films like Aayirathil Oruvan, Vettaikaran, Kutty and Nanayam, worth Rs 20 lakh were seized. Around 450 pornographic films and four writing machines were also seized.The Central Crime Branch police on Monday arrested a 27-year-old man and seized 143 fake notes with a face value of Rs 1,000. A special team that was maintaining vigil on Wall Tax Road followed Zakir Hussain from the Central railway station on suspicion and caught him when he tried to give the slip. The police learnt during enquiry that Hussain who hails from Mohanpur village in West Bengal had links with counterfeit currency gang operating in the city and in Bangalore. Related Articles
