The entire Chennai city has come under heavy security cover with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and many other top leaders, set for arrival to participate at the inaugural of the new Secretariat-Assembly complex. Commando forces and cops have been deployed from Chennai airport till the new Secretariat complex. With preparations in full swing for the event, a Special Protection Group (SPG) team arrived here on Wednesday to interact with the city police on security measures for the high-profile event. Four-tier security has been put up at the venue and MRTS has been suspended partially.  Also the traffic at Anna Salai would come to halt in the evening

Only those with the invitations are allowed to enter the venue due to security reasons. DMK cadres from various parts of the State have started to throng Chennai to take part in the inaugural ceremony. Traffic diversions have been introduced at various roads in the city.
